Why is my espresso machine not dispensing coffee?
There are a few common reasons this can happen:
- Make sure the water tank is filled and correctly positioned.
- Check that the water tank is fully seated so the valves at the bottom can open.
- If the machine has been sitting unused for a while, try running a rinse cycle.
- Make sure you are using the correct grind and quantity of coffee.
- If you're using pre-ground coffee, avoid coffee that is ground too finely for espresso.
Why is coffee dripping from the edges of the portafilter?
The portafilter may not be fitted correctly, or the brew gasket may be dirty or worn.
Remove the portafilter, clean the sealing area and gasket, then reinsert the portafilter and turn it firmly until it is securely locked in place. If the gasket appears damaged or has lost its elasticity, it may need to be replaced.
Why won't the portafilter attach to my espresso machine?
The filter basket may contain too much coffee. Try reducing the amount of ground coffee and then attach the portafilter again.
For best results, use the recommended amount of coffee for your chosen filter basket.
Why is my espresso coming out too quickly?
If your coffee is flowing too quickly, the grounds may be too coarse or may not have been tamped firmly enough.
Try using a finer espresso grind and tamping the coffee evenly with consistent pressure. If you're using too little coffee, increasing the dose may also help.
Why isn't my milk frothing properly?
For best results, use cold milk straight from the refrigerator.
Make sure the steam wand is clean and that you're following the recommended milk-frothing technique. A dirty steam wand or incorrect steaming technique can prevent the milk from frothing properly.
