Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my unit is heating up during pressure cooking?

As pressure builds in the unit, the display will cycle between showing “PrE-HEAt” and a flashing progress bar.

The time will begin counting down once the unit reaches pressure.

It’s normal for some steam to release through the pressure release valve during cooking.

Why is the unit taking so long to come to pressure? How long should it take to come to pressure?

Preheat times may vary based on the selected temperature, current temperature of the cooking pot, and temperature or quantity of the ingredients.

Check to make sure your silicone ring is fully seated and flush against the lid. If installed correctly, you should be able to tug lightly on the ring to rotate it.

Check that the pressure lid is fully closed in place, and the pressure release valve is in the SEAL position when pressure cooking.

Why do flashing bars appear on the display screen when using the Pressure or Steam functions?

This indicates the unit is building pressure or preheating.

These bars will continue to build up until they fill the length of the display.

At this point the unit has built the necessary pressure.

When the unit has finished building pressure, your set cook time will begin counting down.

Why is the pressure cooker hissing and not reaching pressure?

Make sure the pressure release valve is turned to the SEAL position.

If you’ve done this and still hear a loud hissing noise, it may indicate the silicone seal is not fully in place.

Press START/STOP to stop cooking, VENT as necessary, and remove the pressure lid.

Press down on the silicone ring, ensuring it is fully inserted and seated on the metal ring.

Once fully installed, you should be able to tug lightly to freely rotate it around the metal ring.

How much water should I add when cooking?

When using the Pressure function, ALWAYS refer to the pressure cooking charts in the Quick Start Guide to find the correct water ratios.

With any recipe that calls for the Pressure function, use a minimum of 250ml of water/liquid at a minimum.

Tip: When cooking starchy or heavy foods with recipes not included in the Quick Start Guide, add up to 250ml of additional liquid.

If 'Wtr' displays when pressure cooking, add up to 250ml of additional liquid.

Is it normal to see excess condensation when I open the lid?

Yes, this is normal due to the condensation building within the lid.

Condensation will flow from the lid into the moat and then into the condensation collector.

Empty the collector often for best results.

What should I do if I accidentally pour water into the cooker base instead of the cooking pot?

Unplug the unit, then use a large towel to absorb as much water as possible.

Once the cooking base is completely dry, you may use it to cook again.

What do the different cooking functions do?

Pressure: High-reassure cooking for faster, more tender results

Steam: Pressurized steam infuses moisture and quickly cooks food from the inside out

Slow Cook: Cook food at a lower temperature for a longer period of time.

Yogurt: Pasteurise and ferment milk for creamy homemade yogurt.

Sear/Sauté: Use the unit as a stovetop for browning meats, sautéing veggies, simmering sauces, and more

Rice: Cook a variety of rice

Simmer: Gently simmer water, soups or sauces at a consistent temperature

Pasta: Easily cook dry pasta

Keep Warm: After pressure cooking, steaming, rice, or slow cooking, the unit will automatically switch to Keep Warm mode and start counting up.

Keep Warm will stay on for 12 hours, or you may press Start/Stop to turn it off.

Keep Warm mode is not intended to warm food from a cold state but to keep it warm at a food-safe temperature.

Note: Included functions vary by model.

Does this model include an air fry function?

No, this model does not include an Air Fry function.

It features the following cooking functions instead: Pressure, Steam, Slow Cook, Yogurt, Sear/Sauté, Rice, Sous Vide, Pasta, and Keep Warm.

These versatile settings allow you to cook everything from tender pressure-cooked meals and perfectly steamed foods to homemade yogurt and sous vide dishes.
