The Mega Discount Extended Warranty (also referred to as “Contract”) is brought to you by Mega Discount Store Pte. Ltd. ("Mega Discount”). You have indicated your choice of the Contract you require for the Product(s) on the sales receipt/tax invoice relating to such Product(s) and have agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions set out in this Contract. The term of the Contract commences immediately after the end of the manufacturer's warranty period and is for the duration set out in the sales receipt/tax invoice. The Product

must be purchased from Mega Discount. This Contract is valid only if it is purchased and accepted by us within 30 days commencing from the purchase date or delivery date, whichever is later.

Mega Discount Extended Warranty is not an insurance policy or guarantee. Each Contract is a service contract. Mega Discount Extended Warranty is neither a guarantee nor a promise relating to the nature of the material, workmanship or performance of your Product(s) covered by this Contract.

I. DEFINITIONS
In this contract, the following words have the following meanings:
"we," "us" and "our" refer to Mega Discount
"you" and "your" refer to the purchaser of this Mega Discount Extended Warranty
“Coverage" means coverage of costs and expenses for all repair(s) and/or replacement(s) in relation to mechanical or electrical or electronic failure of the Product(s)
“Purchase Price” means the amount you paid to us for the Product
“Limit” means the actual purchase price paid by you for the Product(s).
“Non-Operating” means not affecting the core function of the Product(s) Malfunction/Malfunctioning means the Product is unable to perform in its original function.
“Product” means any home appliances purchased as new in Singapore that is covered under this Service Contract. For the avoidance of doubt, Product does not include complimentary gifts and all accessories including, but not limited to lightings, chargers, batteries, or the like.

II. COVERAGE

A. MEGA DISCOUNT EXTENDED WARRANTY

The table below set out the Coverage you are entitled to depending on the contract you have selected:

3rd Replacement: Capped @ 75% = $750 |- $250 - $150 = $350

 

Replacement One time Replacement Up to Purchase Price minus any prior repair cost incurred, if any.

For televisions, the cost of the replacement will be capped at 75% of Purchase Price minus any prior repair cost incurred, if any.

Food Spoilage

(Applicable to refrigerators and freezers only)

S$100 Grocery Voucher (Limited to one (1) claim per Contract year)

Laundry Reimbursement

(Applicable to washing machines, dryers and washer dryer combos only)

S$20 per day, up to maximum five (5) days (Limited to one (1) claim per Contract year)

For the avoidance of doubt, this benefit is only payable if the washing machine, dryer or washer dryer combo has been Malfunctioning for a period of more than ten (10) consecutive days.

Where we accept your application, you will be provided with Coverage based on the plan you have selected subject to your payment of the specified service fees prevailing at the time of your purchase of the plan and subject to these terms and conditions. We have the right and option at our absolute discretion to either repair or replace your Product(s) with another of like kind, quality and specifications. Replacement parts are new and original manufacturer’s parts that conform to factory specifications and shall be determined at our sole discretion. You acknowledge that due to technological advances, the replacement product may be of a lower retail value than the faulty Product.

The Coverage will be effective starting from the calendar day immediately following the end date of the standard manufacturer’s warranty up to the date of expiry of the term of this Contract or the termination of this Contract in the manner provided under these terms, whichever is earlier in time.

The Coverage shall not exceed the Limit. This Contract will terminate once the Limit is exhausted or the Product(s) is/are replaced, if applicable (whichever is the earlier).

For the avoidance of doubt:
a) Food Spoilage (for Enhanced Care Plans only)
If food items are spoilt due to a Malfunctioning refrigerator or freezer covered under this Contract, we will reimburse you for such food spoilage up to a total of S$100 per incident per Contract year, provided that the food spoilage has been inspected and verified within two
(2) working days of the incident by us or our authorised repairer. In the absence of proper documentation (e.g. receipts, photographs etc), the amount to be reimbursed under this benefit will be subject to our assessment and sole discretion.

b) Laundry Reimbursement (for Enhanced Care Plans Only)
If a washing machine and/or dryer and/or washer dryer combo covered under this Contract has been Malfunctioning for a period of ten (10) days since the defect was first reported to us and you are unable to clean or dry your laundry, we will reimburse you S$20 a day for each additional day your washing machine and/or dryer and/or washer dryer combo continues to Malfunction, up to a maximum of five (5) days per incident per Contract year.

B. EXCLUSIONS FROM COVERAGE
We will not cover you for any liability arising out of the following:
(a) Any accidental damage and/or liquid damage;
(b) Products that are still covered by the manufacturer’s original written warranty, repairer’s warranty, or any other warranty still in effect;
(c) Any defects that are the subject of the manufacturer's recall;
(d) Refurbished, demo or display sets;
(e) Any unauthorised modification(s) to the Product, tampering or alteration to the registration label, tampering or alteration of the serial number of the Product without authorisation, failure to follow manufacturers' instructions on installation, operation or maintenance of the Product, repairs to the Product performed by a non-authorised repairer, and/or any items not affecting the function of the Products;
(f) You fail to comply with the manufacturer's recommendations on routine maintenance, inspection, cleaning, lubrication, external adjustments and any other instructions relating to the use and/or upkeep of the Product;
(g) Commercial use (multi-user organisations), public rental, use for profit or communal use for multi-family housing;
(h) Whilst driving or riding in any kind of race, speed test or endurance test; or whilst engaged or involved in any hazardous sport(s) or professional sport(s) or whilst in any violation or attempted violation of the law or resistance to arrest;
(i) Shipping charges, damage charges, express service charges, transportation damage, removal, installation or reinstallation of the Product, products on loan during the repair process
(j) Any loss or damage due to burglary, theft, corrosion, animal and insect infestation or intrusion, mould, malicious damage, battery leakage, impact, misuse, neglect and abuse;
(k) Diagnostic fees where no defect has been found or noted;
(l) Defects and on-site service charges not covered by the manufacturer's original written warranty, unless specifically covered in this Contract;
(m) Non-Operating defects and/or cosmetic items, paint, color, or Product finish, accessories used in or with the Product, external cables and cords, or add-on options incorporated to the Product;
(n) All batteries (including regular non-chargeable batteries and rechargeable batteries) unless otherwise specifically covered in this Contract;
(o) Faults caused by external factors arising out of wiring, electrical connection and consequential loss of any kind;
(p) Any loss or damage to the Product caused by accident including, but not limited to, earthquake, storm and/or hurricane, fire, flood, lightning and other acts of God;
(q) Any physical damage and damage by sand or water;
(r) Failure caused by a voltage converter and/or applying incorrect voltage to the Product;
(s) Consequential loss of any kind; and/or
(t) Any loss or damage incurred before the date this Contract is issued.

III. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
We will not cover any direct and/or indirect loss or injury to a person and/or loss or damage to property or any incidental, contingent, special or consequential damages, including but not limited to losses incurred due to any delay in rendering any services related to this Contract and/or loss of use during the period that your Product(s) are at an authorised repairer and/or while awaiting the replacement product or replacement parts, even if you might have informed us of the possibility of such loss or damage.

IV. FOR REPAIR/ REPLACEMENT (for Enhanced Care Plans only)
a) Televisions

We will replace your Product(s) with one of like kind, quality and/or specification if the Product is not repairable or beyond economical repair.

The replaced Product(s) (i.e. the spoilt unit) shall become our property without any further payment or compensation to you.

We reserve the right to pay you up to 75% of the Purchase Price of the Product(s), less any prior repair costs (if any), in the form of our store credits, at our sole discretion, with a validity period of thirty (30) days from the date of issuance, if we are unable to give you a replacement product that matches the quality and specifications of the faulty Product, in which case the replaced Product(s) (i.e. the spoilt unit) shall similarly become our property without any further payment or compensation to you.

b) All other Products except televisions.

We will replace your Product(s) with one of like kind, quality and/or specification if the Product is not repairable or beyond economical repair.

The replaced Product(s) (i.e. the spoilt unit) shall become our property without any further payment or compensation to you.

We reserve the right to pay you the original Purchase Price of the Product(s), less any prior repair costs (if any), in the form of our store credits, at our sole discretion, with a validity period of thirty (30) days from the date of issuance, if we are unable to give you a replacement product that matches the quality and specifications of the faulty Product, in which case the replaced Product(s) (i.e. the spoilt unit) shall similarly become our property without any further payment or compensation to you.

Mega Discount will not be liable under the Contract:

(a) if you do not submit the Product(s) to an authorized repairer for repair before the expiry of the Contract; or
(b) where a breakdown report has been submitted before the expiry of the Contract, if you do not submit the Product(s) to an
authorized repairer for repair within thirty (30) days of the breakdown report.

V. TERMINATION
The Contract will terminate if any of the following events occur:
a) upon expiry of the term of the Contract; and/ or
b) when you have successfully made claim(s) for Coverage up to the Limit; and/or
c) when your Product(s) have been replaced under this Contract;
d) we have paid you the Purchase Price less any prior repair costs (where applicable and if any) in store credits if a replacement product that matches the quality and specifications of the faulty Product is not available;
whichever is earlier in time.

VI. ASSIGNMENT OF CONTRACT
If you sell or transfer your Product(s) to another person within the period of the Contract, you must call the Mega Discount Hotline within fourteen (14) days of such sale or transfer to assign this Contract to the new person. You may only assign this Contract if you had purchased the Product(s) with cash or you do not have any outstanding amounts owing on the purchase of the Product(s) or this Contract at the date of such sale or transfer.

When a Product failure occurs, due to an electronic, electrical or mechanical failure, you must call us at 6419 3080 to report the Product failure during office hours (Monday to Friday 0900hrs to 1700hrs excluding public holidays and weekends). Our Customer Service Representatives will be ready to guide you through the service process. To expedite service, please ensure that you have your Contract details readily available before placing the call. If the Product failure is not reported to us prior to repair, the repair will not be approved and will not be covered under the Contract.

To avail yourself to the Coverage, you must produce your sales receipt/ tax invoice for the purchase of the Product and this Contract. Please keep these documents in a safe place.
